Skim 1st Tank®
What is a Skim 1st Tank?
The Skim 1st Tank is a complete oil water separator system that’s designed to deal with batch flows or surges of oily water, not continuous flows. It efficiently separates and immediately removes the oil from the water. Skim 1st Tanks can also collect sludge and solids that don’t interfere with oil removal when it’s batch processing oily water.
How does the Skim 1st Tank work?
SEPARATE
The Skim 1st Tank Oil Water Separator accepts an intermittent flow of oily water that enters the separation tank. Then, based on a pre-determined amount of retention time, the oil separates from the water to form two distinct layers.
REMOVE
Unlike most other oil water separators, the Skim 1st Tank system includes a Brill® Tube Type Oil Skimmer (sometimes called a rope mop skimmer or a snake skimmer). This innovative oil removal system features a Free Floating Collector Tube® that gathers oil as it snakes around the tank, avoiding floating objects and adjusting to changing water levels.
That’s what we call Active Oil Removal®. The Brill actively and continuously removes 100% of the free floating oil in the tank. It also eliminates the build-up of oil that’s a primary cause of inefficiencies and maintenance issues in other oil water separators.
Where is the Skim 1st Tank used?
Skim 1st Tanks are ideal for a wide range of applications:
- Press pits
- Rainwater
- Washwater or washdown
- Floor scrubber discharge
- Wastewater pre-treatment (e.g., evaporators and ultrafiltration)
- Food process equipment wash
A variety of options and customizations are available to fit your application:
- Explosion-proof enclosures for hazardous areas
- Oil sensing technology
- Teflon™ or epoxy coatings and other special materials
- Oil collection reservoirs to contain recovered oil
- Heat tracing and insulation to improve separation or flow
