In addition to simple tube skimming oil removal systems, Oil Skimmers, Inc., has developed a number of "prefabricated mounting systems" to help our customers with the installation of our Model 6V Brill™ and Model 5H oil skimmers.
Created as a direct response to the customer requests, mounting systems have gone on to solve many customer challenges:
They enable the skimmer to be located over the skimming area without the need for expensive platforms or bridgework.
-
They are pre-engineered, thus eliminating the cost to design and build.
-
They are designed to allow gravity discharge of oil into an above-ground collection tank, eliminating extra pumps.
-
They allow movement of the skimmer for safe, easy access.
-
They are equipped to accept optional heaters, if required.
Special Modifications
The systems described below are standard "off the shelf" units and are readily available. Should your application require something other than these, Oil Skimmers, Inc. is ready and able to modify or design the appropriate mounting system. Just contact us with your requirements. |

Model 6V Floor Mount Options
Mount systems were developed for in-ground sumps where the skimmer can be mounted near the edge or directly over the sump the floor frame.
These provide for easy, economical installation, which only require a small amount of assembly.
In addition, they eliminate the need for the customer to engineer and design the installation of the skimmer and allow the skimmer to be mounted high enough to discharge to an above ground collection tank (e.g. 55-gallon drum).
Available in:
60" Floor Frame
Positions the skimmer 5 feet above the floor level. The oil drops into a sludge pan where the drain is high enough to empty into a 55-gallon drum.
The skimmer is located approximately 6" over the edge of the sump, but swings back for easy, safe access. The sludge pan can be heated with a 200 watt heat pad and the decanting system can easily be added and also heated.
30" Floor Frame Same as the 60" except it positions the skimmer 30" above the mounting level. Primarily used where the skimmed oil collection vessel is at a lower level, this is very useful on tall, above ground tanks.

Model 6V Railing Mount
The railing mount is ideal when a sturdy guardrail exists around the edge of the sump and allows for a more efficient method of mounting. It positions the skimmer out over the water but allows it to be swung back for easy economical servicing.
The skimmed oil drips from the skimmer into a sludge pan, which can be mounted high enough to discharge into a 55-gallon drum.
The pan can be heated and the decanter easily added and also heated.
Model 6V Wall Mount
Where a high wall is present near the edge of a sump or pit, the wall mount can be used to install the skimmer. The framework can easily be secured to the wall, thus mounting the skimmer at any height desired.
Similar to the other frame mounts, the oil discharges into a sludge pan, which drains into the collection vessel.
The pan can be heated and the decanter easily added and also heated.

Model 6V Cart Mount
The 60" or 30" floor frame can be supplied with a portable cart. This allows one unit to service a number of locations. The cart is modified to accept the skimmer and floor frame and counter balanced to permit the unit to operate near the sump edge.

|
Model 6V Pallet Mount
The 60" or 30" pallet mount frame can be supplied with a portable cart. This allows one unit to service a number of locations whether the cart mount is not practical.
This pallet is designed to accept the skimmer and floor frame and is weighted to permit the unit to operate near the sump edge, easily moved with a standard fork truck.

Model 6V Boom Mounts
One of the challenges facing Oil Skimmers, Inc.'s customers in its early years was how to locate the skimmer over the water when it was impossible or undesirable to locate it near the water's edge.
Previously, a costly and time-consuming walkway or platform was required; however, this requirement was eliminated with the introduction of the "Boom Mounts."
These are pre-engineered, pre-constructed economical mounting systems which allow the Model 6V Brill™ to be positioned over the water.
The skimmer can be mounted at any height to allow gravity discharge of the skimmed oil, eliminates special design work and construction of support platforms and allows the skimmer to swing back to shore for safe, easy servicing. Boom mounts are available in two designs:
Model 6V Cantilever Mount
Where a reach of 1 to 7 feet is needed the cantilever mount is recommended.
By locating a mast near the edge of the basin or sump, the mount need only be assembled. The skimmer will be out over the water, and will be mounted high enough to allow for gravity discharge (the supporting boom serves as the discharge pipe) and swing back to the side for easy and safe servicing.
The entire system can be pre-wired, heat traced and insulated for winter installations.
The system is available in standard 6' and 8' lengths but can be easily modified for shorter lengths.

Model 6V Balanced Mount
For longer reaches over 8 feet a balanced boom mount is available, enabling the Model 6V to be positioned up to 20 feet from the edge of the separation basin.
The system easily assembles to the mast and can locate the skimmer (Model 6V) at a height which allows gravity discharge to the shore.
The boom, which supports the skimmer, serves as a discharge for the oil.
With the aid of balancing weights the skimmer can easily be swung around to the edge and lowered for easy, economical servicing.
For winter applications the entire system can be pre-wired, heat traced and insulated.

Model 6V Hanging Mount
For areas where an overhead structure is present, there is the option to mount the Model 6V by hanging it from its handles. It can be mounted at any height to allow gravity discharge and a "hanging kit" is used to channel the oil in any direction for easy collection.

5H Side Mount
For tanks that have no access, this mount is designed to bolt or weld to the side of the tank. An access opening is cut into the tank to allow the tube to enter and exit, with all working parts of the unit on the outside of the tank.

Chute Mount
Used when material is to heavy and needs to go directly to the collection tank.

5H Drum Mount
In order for the unit to serve a number of tanks, it can be mounted onto a portable drum. A special adapter is available which locates the unit onto a 55-gallon drum and allows it to discharge directly into the drum. Oil Skimmers, Inc. can supply the top adapter or entire drum package.

5H Cart Mount
For mobility and the ability to serve multiple tanks, the Model 5H can be mounted on a frame mount which is secured to a "cart." The cart is modified to accept the frame and balanced to allow the skimmer operation.

5H Wall Mount
On applications where the unit can not be mounted to a tank, Oil Skimmers, Inc. has available a wall mount kit which enables the unit to be secured to a near by wall. The collection pan can easily be piped to a nearby storage vessel.

|
5H Frame Mount
If the Model 5H cannot be mounted to a tank or nearby wall, a floor frame mount is available.
The frame mount would be located independent of the tank, hold the unit, and allow it to skim from the tank. The sludge pan catches the skimmed oil from skimmer and can be easily piped to a collection vessel. To prevent freezing, the collection pan can be heated.
